Beaches, Catherine Hill Bay

Located approximately 40 minutes south of Newcastle in New South Wales, Beaches, Catherine Hill Bay is a coastal subdivision planned by Coastal Hamlets Pty Ltd. They engaged our local team to provide geotechnical and contaminated land services for the development of the subdivision over the past decade.

With a rich coal mining history, the land contains a range of former infrastructure and uncontrolled filling including coal waste material, which has required careful consideration as development progresses. Our geotechnical services have included earthworks recommendations, pavement design, site classification, geotechnical constraint assessments, mine subsidence assessments and remediation, and construction support. We’ve also provided environmental services such as water quality monitoring, acid sulfate soil assessments, waste classification, combustibility reports, detailed site investigations (DSIs), and subsequent remediation/validation. Now that most of the subdivision is complete, we’re undertaking contamination, mine subsidence, and geotechnical assessments of the last planned stage.

When finished, the subdivision will provide around 550 residential homes as well as reserves, parks, and an on-site wastewater treatment plant.
