Beams Road Rail Level Crossing

The Beams Road rail level crossing upgrade is real example of putting community at the center of design. We partnered with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to develop a rail level crossing removal solution that reduces travel time while making travel safer for thousands of road users every day.

We were involved throughout the full project life cycle, from early planning through to preliminary and detailed design. We worked with a range of stakeholders to develop a solution with community at the center, including a final design that featured twin three-span bridges, integrated paths for vulnerable road users, upgraded flood immunity infrastructure, and signalized intersection improvements. Throughout the design phase, we worked with TMR to engage with a range of stakeholders at nearby and adjoining developments, arriving at a solution that catered to current and future land uses.

When complete, this project will feature a new rail and road bridge, integrated paths for pedestrians, bikes, and scooters as well as a redesign of the existing Carseldine station park ‘n’ ride facility to safely connect the growing communities of northern Brisbane.
