Boundary Road (Coopers Plains) Rail Overpass

Boundary Road is a major route connecting industry to the diverse residential and retail communities southwest of the city. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and the Brisbane City Council needed a solution that would improve conditions for one of Brisbane’s busiest traffic and rail corridors. Our transportation team took on the challenge.

We designed an elevated three-way intersection connecting Boundary Road and Orange Grove Road in Coopers Plains over the Gold Coast rail line. This will greatly reduce commuting time, congestion, and make all modes of travel safer. The existing rail level crossing south of Coopers Plains train station will be removed to make way for the more efficient overpass. New traffic signals and dedicated active travel pathways for bike riding and pedestrians will provide a noticeable yet positive difference to this busy part of southeast Queensland’s road network.

Once complete, the new overpass will greatly benefit users of the roadway
