Technical brief and review services for a new sports and recreation facility in the Parramatta central business district

CommBank Stadium

Parramatta central business district (CBD) forms one of three centers in the greater Sydney metropolitan area and is a destination for sporting events, concerts, and special events. However, the Pirtek stadium hosting these events and home to the Parramatta Eels and Western Sydney Wanderers was outdated so a new facility was needed.

Our team has been involved with Venues New South Wales (NSW) and Infrastructure NSW for several years including involvement in the upgrade of Pirtek Stadium, so we were commissioned to write the functional technical brief for a new Western Sydney stadium. Following the complete demolition of Pirtek Stadium, we have been involved in the design competition and technical review of the LendLease design for the new stadium to ensure the project was meeting the brief. This included reviewing all subcontractor documentation, attending site inspections, participating in witness testing, and performing independent commissioning of the stadium at practical completion.

The new multipurpose CommBank Stadium now plays host to rugby, soccer, concerts, events, and more, offering the community a destination like no other in the Parramatta CBD.
