A learning area where students and faculty staff can collaborate in the most imaginative way
The University of Western Australia (UWA) needed a new center to educate its Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences students. Our contribution? A multidisciplinary team that could help blend new construction with refurbished buildings to provide collaborative learning spaces, laboratories, and research areas.
We played a key role in identifying existing services where site documentation was incomplete, sharing findings with the wider team and liaising closely with stakeholders to co-ordinate a sustainable and safe building. Taking into account the spatial constraints of the architectural design—which features low floor-to-floor heights and no ceilings—we included exposed services throughout.
By engaging in early discussions with stakeholder groups, we were able to tailor specific technical solutions, particularly within the laboratories, delivering flexibility in the learning environment in the final design.
UWA is balancing the needs of today with a passion for tomorrow, and we’re proud to be part of delivering this learning and research environment for all to experience.
