Koombana Bay Redevelopment

We’re thrilled to have partnered with the City of Bunbury and our partner teams with the Koombana Bay Redevelopment—we’re proud to have turned this prime, but underused, waterfront area into a vibrant community recreational destination. This project needed to have a robust, sustainable foreshore design, so our team led a collaborative, holistic approach to Koombana Foreshore’s master plan—integrating the expertise from a range of allied disciplines, including coastal engineering, civil engineering, traffic engineering, transportation planning, architecture, and public art consultants. 

Our teams made key improvements that include a pedestrian promenade along the beach; improved and inclusive beach access; revamped kiosk and public amenities such as shade structures, barbecues, showers, drinking fountains, and an inclusive playground; an amphitheatre; solar panels on the picnic shelters that feed back into the power grid; and improved parking and traffic access to name but a few. An iconic, refurbished footbridge designed with ribs that light up at night honors historical shipwrecks in the bay and connects the foreshore with Bunbury’s central business district.

Now, Koombana Foreshore is the pride of the local community, a place where people can go to relax, play and picnic, swim or exercise, dine, and enjoy life to the fullest.
