New Epping - Engineering and Sustainability Services

Spanning 51 hectares (126 acres) of regenerated land, New Epping is set to become a vibrant mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial spaces, and a health, healing, and innovation hub—all linked by a central green corridor. Riverlee reached out to us to help develop a clear and measurable framework that would pull together their vision, design initiatives, and future strategies into a cohesive and manageable structure with sustainability at the forefront.

Our water team helped restore Edgar’s Creek as a flood-resilient corridor that improves natural water quality. Our transportation team developed a transportation strategy and Green Travel Plan to prioritize active and public transport, while engagement specialists guided community resilience planning and the social impact initiatives.

Portions of the New Epping site required significant land rehabilitation where a number of innovative engineered solutions, such as advanced passive irrigation systems and urban greening, had been developed. Design elements that incorporated culture and traditions of the Wurundjeri Elders were built into the design process. We assisted with the recognition of the innovations applied and provided guidance to support, which led to a full 10 points gained under the innovation category in the Green Star application.

New Epping has received a 6 Star Green Star Communities certification from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), placing it among Victoria’s most sustainable developments and setting expectations for what is possible in urban regeneration.
