Rehabilitation Monitoring Programs

Supporting the resource sector with ongoing rehabilitation monitoring is vital to satisfy environmental legal and regulatory compliance mechanisms and to inform sustainable mine closure strategies. For over a decade, our Rehabilitation team has been engaged in completing annual rehabilitation monitoring for the mining industry.

Our oversight provides both qualitative and quantitative assessments of rehabilitation establishment and development covering multiple sites in Australia. The monitoring involves vegetation and erosion assessments on a range of rehabilitated landforms and reference landscapes. A key challenge is the vast and remote nature of the field work, a time-consuming task with travel, equipment, logistics and safety considerations. We continually collaborate successfully with our client to coordinate logistics to facilitate multiple site mobilizations.

The field data collected provides essential insight into the success of rehabilitation strategies, helps to predict long-term ecological trajectories, and enables the development of quantitative rehabilitation targets within completion criteria frameworks.
