The Vasey Housing Association dedicates its time towards finding homes for ex-service men, women, and family members of ex-service representatives serving in the defence field. Partnering with Stantec to design Seniors Independent Living Waitara, the association hoped to provide secure independent residential accommodation to members of the community.
Stantec was involved from concept through to detailed design and construction of this project. We provided acoustic, electrical, fire protection, hydraulic, mechanical, and sustainability engineering for this new 12-storey independent seniors living development. One notable element of our electric design was the incorporation of an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) for the lifts—this would allow residents to use the lifts without the need for a diesel generator in circumstances of power loss. We located the UPS in the basement with services designed around it due to the restricted maximum building height.
Elderly residents of Sydney now have access to a range of affordable living options at Seniors Independent Living Waitara. With flexible payment plans, these homes were designed to accommodate those seeking a friendly, safe, and secure community environment.
