Integrated services design is central to delivery of high-quality healthcare at St. John of God’s Berwick Hospital
Opened in 2018, this 210-bed private hospital in Berwick, Victoria was commissioned by St John of God Health Care to increase local access to specialists in a high-quality facility. Delivered in stages, the hospital’s amenities include theatres, a cardiac/vascular catheter lab, birthing suites, ICU, consulting rooms and chapel, and a basement carpark. Involved since the early design stages, Stantec’s building engineers delivered multiple services to complete the complex project.
Central to the hospital design was the delivery of the telecoms and information and communications technology systems. Stakeholder workshops helped identify the technical, operational, functional and asset management requirements upon which the design was based, which includes critical interfaces with the mechanical, electrical, security and safety systems. A comprehensive building information modeling process facilitated fully integrated services to produce as-built documentation and models.
Stantec worked closely with St John of God to achieve the required standards at Berwick hospital, providing vital health services that improve the diagnosis and treatment options for the community in Berwick.
