Pathology sits at the heart of modern healthcare, and Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology’s expansion at Bowen Hills is about more than just adding space—it’s about strengthening the way critical diagnostic services are delivered.
Over the past three and a half years, we’ve worked side by side with their team to grow their central laboratory, adding 9,000 square metres (97,000 square feet) across five levels to accommodate new laboratories, offices, and workspaces. The new facility is designed to bring pathologists and scientists together in an open, flexible environment where they can collaborate and tackle complex medical challenges.
Our team’s involvement included the design and documentation of building services, making sure the new laboratory spaces had the right infrastructure to support a range of specialist functions. One of the biggest challenges was integrating the expansion with the existing facility without disrupting daily operations. To achieve this, we worked closely with the client team, incorporating their technical insights and operational needs into our designs.
This expansion elevates the site's ability to support advanced diagnostics and medical research. By focusing on practical, adaptable solutions, this facility is ready to meet evolving healthcare needs.
