The Glades at Byford

The Glades at Byford is among the largest master-planned communities in the south-eastern corridor of Perth. Supporting urbanization and population growth in the area, this project was key to offering around 10,000 residents a healthy lifestyle connected to the community.

Stantec provided civil consulting services to the Glades with project works including roads, earthworks, sewer, water, power, communications, and drainage.  Key elements included the upgrade of existing roads and construction of a lake within the Village Centre precinct. While we developed the community’s school site, we also left more than 14% of the area as green space with bicycle routes and natural paths throughout. At completion, the estate would feature 3,500 lots and include a primary school, district high school, a proposed Catholic K-12 school, and a village centre with shops, offices, and cafes.

A range of water management initiatives were integrated including minimising changes to the natural watercourses and water sensitive urban design principles. This led to winning The Resource Management Award at the 2012 Australian Water Association WA Water Awards, and our team also assisted a successful application to achieve UDIA Enviro Development certification in three categories.
