Auckland’s tallest skyscraper

The Pacifica is set to become Auckland's tallest skyscraper, rising to 178 metres on Commerce Street. The 57-level development includes five levels of penthouse apartments. The building will have a lap pool, spa, gym, yoga studio, media room, residents' lounge, library and barbecue terrace along with a 35-suite hotel.

Our team was involved to bring expertise and innovation from our high-rise projects in Melbourne to this project in Auckland, and we partnered with local firm ECS to provide local input. We used efficient high-rise construction techniques we had previously used in Melbourne projects that saved money and created additional sellable area and integrating the local seismic requirements into the design.

Some of the construction techniques and approaches specified by Stantec are not currently adopted in New Zealand. The team worked closely with local partners to ensure that the design approach, being different, was well understood. This was required to ensure competitive pricing and that an efficient design could be turned into an efficient building, ensuring much needed housing would be developed for this the fast-growing city.
