Warrego Highway East Master Plan
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) needed to determine the future requirements of the Warrego Highway East transportation corridor. While a master plan was already in the early stages of development, it needed updating to ensure it met heritage, industry, and safety standards—that’s where we came in.
Working with TMR, we delivered a master planning study to identify a future motorway corridor for 78 kilometres (48 miles) of the Warrego Highway. Our integrated transportation, civil engineering, and environmental teams worked together to deliver corridor models, environmental analysis, and civil designs of bridges, road curvature, cuttings, and interchanges.
Our transportation team developed an Aimsun corridor model that looked at all major roads in the project area to understand how new interchanges would react to various situations and traffic flows. Alongside this, our environmental team analyzed environment and heritage constraints within the corridor, considering environmental impacts such as wildlife connectivity, approvals, flora and fauna, and water quality.
The finished master plan considers future road standards, vehicle types, traffic volumes, intersection safety, and environmental and heritage values, and will help to futureproof Queensland’s freight network in this area.
