Our teams reviewed over 1,000 project proposals for the LIFE grant awards in support of EU environment and climate action

Since 1992, LIFE—a European Union program supporting the development and implementation of EU environmental and climate policy—has co-financed over 4,000 environmental and nature conservation projects. Recently renewed with a budget of €3.4 billion for the period between 2014 and 2020, LIFE aims to make the objectives and targets of the European 2020 Strategy, as well as the EU’s environment and climate strategies, a reality.

Every year, the European Commission receives over 1,000 proposals for projects in the fields of nature and biodiversity, environment, resource efficiency, and climate action. To ensure fully independent, fair, and transparent evaluation processes, the Commission called on our teams to provide support and technical assistance. We reviewed all proposals submitted under the LIFE annual calls for action grants (in all thematic areas) as well as all operating grants for European Environmental NGOs.

Throughout this project we have opportunities for freelance experts to join the team of evaluators, see here for more information on current openings.
