Environmental Standards Capacity Building in the Turkish Cypriot Community

The European Commission is working together with our International Development team in Belgium to help with efforts to foster an environmentally sustainable economy in Cyprus.

Our team is providing technical support, educational tools, materials, guidelines, and training in the Commission’s aid program to strengthen the community’s capacity in environmental protection and green economy development. We are also involved in formulating environmental strategies, monitoring, and evaluating the environmental sector using a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets.

This work builds on previous Commission efforts, which have funded the progression and restructuring of crucial environmental infrastructure in areas such as environment, waste, energy, telecommunications, and water supply. These efforts aim to protect, conserve, and improve the wellbeing of humans and nature and to align with EU environmental standards and practices throughout Cyprus.
