EU Green Growth Cooperation Program Greenland Support

While Greenland’s natural and mineral resources attract more and more interest, its geographically dispersed and fragile society needs solid management processes and skills for securing a sustainable future. Greenland is facing significant challenges including low levels of qualified labor, lack of industry diversification, and an aging population.

On behalf of the European Commission, we worked alongside the Government of Greenland to identify actions where an EU Green Growth cooperation program would have most impact, assessing climate-related policy initiatives, strategies, and projects of the Greenlandic government and their partners. We highlighted renewable energy, biodiversity, and sustainable economic growth as areas with potential for advancement. Our research culminated in a detailed report that then informed the EU’s cooperation programs with Greenland.

This project has helped enhance EU-Greenland relations and supported their cooperation in crucial sectors to support a sustainable future.
