Spreading knowledge for a healthier and more sustainable ocean and to foster the uptake of blue skills

EU4Ocean Coalition for Ocean Literacy Initiative Support

Understanding how we influence the ocean and how the ocean influences us is at the core of ocean literacy. That is why the European Commission created the EU4Ocean Coalition, their flagship initiative to spread knowledge for a healthier and more sustainable ocean and to foster the uptake of blue skills for a competitive blue economy.

The initiative is comprised of three parts: EU4Ocean Platform, Youth4Ocean Forum, and Network of European Blue Schools. These bring together private sector actors, young ocean advocates, and educational institutes based in the EU. The European Commission selected our team to lead the expansion of each of the three parts and to support promotion and awareness-raising activities of the Coalition.

We are organizing mentoring programs that will connect young people to careers in the blue economy and support employability in the blue economy sector through promotion of internships. We are also helping create a thriving community for teachers and educators, giving them a space to interact and learn how to best transmit knowledge to their students. Additionally, we’re supporting communications on social media, managing the Coalition’s section of the Commission’s website, and coordinating participation of the Coalition and organizing partner events.

Following the priorities set in the European Ocean Pact, this initiative is delivering real impacts for EU coastal and inland communities that depend on a healthy, sustainable ocean.
