Moldova EU Accession - Market Legislation Support

Moldova formally submitted an application for membership to the European Union in March 2022. Since then, the country has been actively engaged in the EU accession process and made significant progress in aligning legislation and policies with EU standards, particularly in economic reforms. The EU has been supporting Moldova with various projects aimed at strengthening institutions and improving legislative and regulatory frameworks.

The European Commission selected our team to assist Moldova on the path to EU accession by comparing current legislation to the EU acquis—their body of common laws, rights, and obligations. Main areas of our assessment included market surveillance and consumer protection, technical requirements, labeling, certification, and testing procedures. We conducted a comprehensive review of Moldovan transposition of relevant EU legislation, then recommended key legislative and regulatory actions for effectively managing the practical effects of an Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance (ACAA) between Moldova and the EU, an important milestone toward accession.

The outcomes of this project will support Moldova in meeting their commitments to aligning with EU standards and building long-term institutional capacity of their legislative and regulatory framework.
