Multi-Country Twinning Program for Fecal Sludge Management

The mission of the program is to advance the knowledge and expertise of FSM professionals and their organizations through exposure visits to successful FSM programs, as well as lessons learned in other countries. Through this program we are developing a platform and initiating actions to encourage knowledge-sharing within and among countries. We are creating opportunities for FSM professionals to network and foster development of long-term twinning relationships between organizations.

Together with our partners, we develop and organize multiple exposure visits for selected FSM professionals from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Indonesia to travel to and interact with FSM professionals in Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Each exposure visit is designed to introduce topics across the entire value chain of FSM, with focus on either management themes (regulation, institution, business and financial models) or technical themes (collection service models and treatment technologies). Each trip is also designed to facilitate connections among participants of the trip and with host country organizations. 

As a result of this program, we hope momentum will build in the organizations represented from India, Nepal, and Bangladesh to initiate and take forward their own similar projects at home.
