BC Hydro - Power Engineering and Project Delivery Services

Looking to modernize its electrical grid and provide reliable clean energy to their customers, the BC Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) selected us to help. We’ve worked with BC Hydro since 2019, delivering multiple service delivery contracts in both engineering and environmental services—strengthening our relationship and becoming a trusted advisor.

In support of BC Hydro’s 10-year capital plan, we’ll provide transmission and distribution engineering as well as project delivery services for the electrical infrastructure throughout British Columbia. We’ll supply transmission and distribution services along with substation design. This includes electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering services. Additionally, we’ll oversee project management, scheduling, cost control, procurement, and contract management, as well as materials management, equipment management, and logistics.

This C$186 million ($138 million) master services agreement between Stantec and BC Hydro is initially termed for 7 years, with a potential total term of up to 20 years. It allows us to support BC Hydro with any development, from initial system studies, environmental permitting, Indigenous consultation, and engineering design to construction management and post construction monitoring.

With this support in place, BC Hydro will be able to move forward with a modernized, expanded electrical grid in the drive toward the clean energy transition.
