Creating a beachy oasis in the heart of Quebec City
Beauport Bay is located a few minutes from downtown Quebec City. Thanks to its beautiful setting, the site is a destination of choice for all residents. For the 400th anniversary of the City’s founding, the City of Quebec wanted to offer a new space that would benefit everyone. Beauport Bay offers an urban beach with unique views of Île d’Orléans.
This was a great challenge. In fact, it was necessary to manage the project’s integration with existing contaminated soils. We also had to make the site accessible to many types of watersport and beach clientele. Furthermore, we needed to ensure that the erosion-prone banks were stabilized.
We carried out the landscaping and designed several site components such as beaches, water games, furniture, and lighting. The design we developed promotes the diversity of all environmental resources while enabling families and sailing fans alike to access the site. Essentially, we wished to create a common, yet diversified space that anyone could enjoy in harmony with those around them.
