Supporting health and wellness for every community member
Home to Saskatoon’s largest wetland complex, the Brighton residential community prides itself on connecting people to each other and to nature that is close to home. The opening of its neighborhood park incorporates these social and economic benefits to the community and the city.
Brighton Core Park is a 23-acre (9.3-hectare) recreational destination that reimagines the landscape to support inclusivity and natural resource stewardship. The park promotes equal and fair play by having something for everyone and leverages best design practices for inclusive play design.
Select features include an amphitheater, triple-action play area, spray park, and challenge course that engage multiple senses and accommodate many ages and abilities. These amenities and many others are physically linked by a 2.2-kilometre (1.4-mile) pathway and plaza system that connects the neighborhood. The landscape and native plants are sustainably maintained through a grey water irrigation system. Educational boards throughout the park focus on nature, the wetland, and specifically some of the flowers that can be found in Saskatchewan’s native prairie landscape.
Designed for all, Brighton Core Park is an uplifting destination for the community.
