The new warehouse incorporates innovative technology to efficiently store and catalogue large volumes of property and evidence

Calgary Police Service - Property and Evidence Warehouse

Gathering evidence is a critical part of police investigations. So is the handling, management, integrity and storage of evidence, which must be done safely and in accordance to legislated codes and regulations. We partnered with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) to consolidate warehousing and storage of their property and evidence in a new Property and Evidence Warehouse at the Westwinds Campus.

Since almost anything can become evidence, we designed the $12 million facility as a series of volumes to accommodate the functions occurring within. The tallest volume contains large bulk evidence, including found property such as bikes. The second tallest volume includes evidence processing and specialized storage for items such as drugs, DNA and ammunition that require specialized ventilation and construction. The shortest volume is dedicated to office space and public access.

The resulting 55,000 square foot facility, which stores sensitive materials used in investigations and court cases, is relatively compact while still allowing flexible storage solutions and room for growth.
