Utilizing Alberta's strong winds for environmentally friendly energy

How do you help a client harness renewable energy? Simple, you combine your powers as a multidisciplinary team. By bringing together our expertise in site design and infrastructure, engineering design, and construction management, we were able to work on all aspects of the design and delivery of the Castle Rock Ridge Wind Farm. This project in southern Alberta featured 33 Enercon 2.3 megawatt turbines and component parts sourced from Enercon's factory in Germany, and involved work with Enel, an Italian electric utility company.

We provided full civil, electrical, and structural engineering services for the design of each element from the 34.5 kilovolt underground collector system to the 240/34.5 kilovolt interconnect substation. Our work on the temporary interconnect substation, which involved the installation of giant electric heaters, helped our client qualify for credits under the ecoENERGY program and allowed the turbines to be pre-commissioned.

With our agile consultation skills and strong abilities in relationship-building and communication, our team met all time-sensitive interconnection and load requirements, and delivered the project on time and on budget.
