An urban parkade for a renewed downtown Winnipeg

Centrepoint Parkade

Located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, the Centrepoint Parkade offers new parking options to visitors of the Sports, Hospitality, and Entertainment District (SHED), as well as to people who work in the surrounding area.

The 5.5 story parkade is within close walking distance to Winnipeg's Bell MTS Centre, home to the Winnipeg Jets, and has 410 parking stalls. People who are parking can enter from Hargrave Street or Ellice Avenue—the entrance is identified by a red marquee. The black spandrel panels contain a series of linear reveals and are covered by a compliment of white and red horizontal fins that appear to move across the façade. The animation is supported by the edge light along the red fins that is programmed in response to the environment to appear as the tracing of light trails in a long exposure photograph.

By increasing parking options in the busiest part of town, the Centrepoint Parkade is destined to make it easier to enjoy downtown Winnipeg.
