Creating a place for students and researchers to thrive
Designing and building a leading-edge technology instruction and innovation centre on any campus has a far-reaching impact on student life—it’s a way to build for the future and draw students, researchers, and instructors into the community. Our team provided a full suite of consulting services, including building commissioning to make this happen for Confederation College in Thunder Bay.
This was a fast-tracked, design-build project that required staged construction. To meet challenging timelines, our design team worked collaboratively through an integrated project delivery method with both the builder and the owner. The commissioning team was on-site throughout construction to verify the proper installation and integration of mechanical and electrical systems, and functional performance tests were documented and performed with integration of the facility operators. This served as supplementary information for owner training, ensuring facility operators were able to maintain their efficient facility for years to come.
Completed in time for the start of the 2018 school year, Confederation College will assist with the integration of the expanded curriculum program with the adjacent Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre and greater community at large.
