Sainte-Thérèse Rehabilitation Center for Youth with Adaptation Difficulties

The Centre Intégré de Santé et de Services Sociaux (CISSS) des Laurentides aimed to create a transitional living environment in Sainte-Thérèse that would feel like home and be specifically tailored to its young clientele. They engaged our engineering, landscape architecture, and telecommunications specialists as part of the design-build team for this project.

We collaborated with the architect on the design of this facility. The center features individual rooms, common living areas as well as clinical, educational, administrative, food, and sports services, along with a social emergency space. A glass walkway separates the living area from the educational zone and outdoor spaces—playgrounds, sports fields, walkways, and gardens—encourage socialization and physical activity among the residents. We also developed the lighting system to integrate with the center’s energy-efficient building system.

The resulting modern, high-performance facility is unique in Quebec and aligns with the developmental, educational, and social needs of its young residents. Encompassing over 12,000 square metres (129,167 square feet) the center can accommodate 90 residents aged 6 to 17.
