De la Cité High School

In response to a pressing need for new educational facilities in the Outaouais region, the Centre de services scolaires des Portages-de-l'Outaouais needed to build a new public high school in Gatineau. This vast building, erected in the Du Plateau sector, needed to accommodate 810 students from secondary 1 to secondary 5 (grades 7-11).

Our Building Engineering team carried out the mechanical and electrical aspects of the project, including LED lighting, a heat pump system, and heat recovery ventilation technology. This resulted in a 24% reduction in the building's energy consumption compared with the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) standard at the time of design. The new facility includes regular and specialized classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, a library, administrative offices, as well as collaborative spaces to encourage student socialization. Because it was important to allow students visual exposure to vegetation, the building was built near a wooded area and the school also features a green roof.

Since the school’s opening, students have been enjoying a stimulating, interactive, and energy-efficient environment where they can thrive.
