Upgrading critical airport transportation infrastructure to meet the growing region

With the increase in traffic using this regional airport to access the Wood Buffalo region, the Fort McMurray Airport Authority needed to expand to continue to serve its growing customer base.

Our team was retained by the Fort McMurray Airport Authority to provide owner’s representative project management services on their airport expansion and redevelopment project. The greenfield project included a new air terminal building, parking for over 2,300 vehicles, an aircraft parking apron with nine gates, four boarding bridges, and flow-through de-icing taxiways, a new access road, as well as commercial development areas, services and utilities, and renovations to the existing air terminal building. Working as an integrated member of the Airport Authority’s management team, our team moved the project vision forward from inception to completion while meeting most security, schedule, quality, sustainability, and cost objectives and delivered a thorough life cycle of project management services.

The new airport allows for continued increase in commuter traffic throughout the region and will provide a safe and comfortable experience for all users.
