Creating a benchmark for all future Frito Lay distribution centres
The new distribution centre boasts a 1,000 square metre single story office and a 5,000 square metre high bay warehouse and distribution area with a clear mono-slope roof and tilt-up concrete wall panels. The bay accommodates a mixture of individual pick type racking and pallet racking, as well as RSR delivery van and OTR tractor trailer vehicles with dock heights of 860 and 1,200 millimetre respectively.
Site planning was maximized to circulate, access, and build configurations to accommodate present needs while allowing for future expansion. The location, in combination with an electric vehicle delivery fleet, will significantly reduce FLC's contribution to GHG emissions.
This sets a benchmark for all future Frito Lay distribution centres. The entire distribution centre features alternative lighting, energy efficiency standards, and environmentally-conscious construction choices.
By leveraging many emerging best practices for sustainable buildings, the distribution centre was awarded LEED Silver certification as well as the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties Real Estate Excellence Award.
