Demonstrating commitment to creating environments where future generations can learn, prosper, and prepare for their future

Grande Prairie Regional College needed facility upgrades to address physical and functional requirements required to better serve communities in northwestern Alberta. With this goal in mind, they engaged Stantec to answer the question: How can we attract and retain current and future students and staff and also create a cultural hub in our community?

To answer this question, we developed a business case that reflected our commitment to creating environments where future generations can learn, prosper, and prepare for their future. We also brought our understanding that educational institutions all have unique needs based on the communities they serve.

The business case included cost benefit, strategic alignment, and environmental analyses that led the college to build a new learning centre and modernize existing facilities. This addressed the need for physical and functional renewal, to maximize vacated space, and to upgrade the library to serve those working on collaborative degrees with other institutions. We also proposed an Aboriginal Languages Center to provide resources and services that promote participation and success for this underrepresented group.
