LNG Canada, a joint venture between Shell, PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi, and KOGAS, is the first, and currently largest, liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Canada. Located in Kitimat, British Columbia, the Phase 1 development includes LNG production and storage facilities, workforce accommodations, and marine infrastructure that supports global energy exports.
Our team has been involved since early stages, providing site selection, environmental planning, regulatory approvals, and ongoing environmental compliance through construction and operations. We worked closely with LNG Canada, First Nations, and community interest groups to support responsible project delivery.
We also supported the design-build delivery of key marine infrastructure, including the award-winning Material Offloading Facility (MOF), Loadout Berth 2 wharf, and associated structures. Critical to Phase 1 development, the 550-metre (1,804-foot) long MOF enabled the safe and efficient delivery of prefabricated LNG modules weighing up to 8,000 tons, helping keep construction on schedule. Both the MOF and Loadout Berth 2 were designed to perform in challenging marine environments shaped by seismic demands, extreme tides, and complex soil conditions.
Through an integrated approach spanning structural, geotechnical, and coastal engineering, our team delivered resilient infrastructure that supported successful module importation and ongoing terminal operations.
The LNG Canada Export Terminal supports Canada’s global energy exports of liquefied natural gas now and for years to come.
