Feeding the people of Vancouver in a reimagined location

McDonald’s Destination 2012 program was a huge undertaking for McDonald’s Canada. This remodel program added the McCafe element and included interior equipment renovations, lobby renovations, and exterior reimaging. Locations were dispersed across Western Canada. We had been providing services to McDonald’s in the US since 1994; this was our first program for McDonald’s Canada.

The program was led out of our Vancouver office, and we had a team of 130 staff operating out of multiple offices in Canada and the US. Account and project management flowed from our Vancouver office, production was completed in many Canadian and US offices, and permitting and other services requiring “boots on the ground” took place in local offices close to the project locations.

We developed a streamlined design approval process by reviewing drawings with McDonald’s staff via webinar and making adjustments in SketchUp on the fly. This reduced the design approval process from upwards of a month to an hour or less—a huge advantage when the annual remodel goals are over 200 stores. We exceeded that goal, bringing McDonald’s stores and their Big Macs to customers that much more quickly.
