Over a decade of superior mining services
Stantec became a part of the Nickel Rim South project in 2003. Alongside Xstrata Nickel (now GlencoreXstrata) employees, we were responsible for coordinating conceptual, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies.
As a result of the study findings, a Deposit Definition phase was authorized for Nickel Rim South in 2004. A contract was also awarded to us for the detailed engineering of the underground infrastructure, including ventilation, ore and waste handling; mine dewatering, and underground mine facilities and services. At the detailed design phase, we were also involved in the full mine design, with ongoing support provided to the automation and controls group, as well as focused efforts on hoisting/headworks.
