Parcours Gouin Trail Net Zero Energy Reception Pavilion
A popular destination, with more than one million visits annually by cyclists and pedestrians alike, the Parcours Gouin Trail―running along the Des Prairies River in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough―was lacking in user services. To revitalize this urban sector, the City wanted to make the riverbank accessible to the population while transforming the site in such a way that would promote sustainable development. This was the context in which the Reception Pavilion―the City of Montreal’s first net zero energy building―came to life.
We provided mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering services. Applying an integrated design approach for the project’s execution, our team met the project timetable while striking a balance between the building’s aesthetic characteristics and energy performance, despite the project’s complexity.
The result? An intelligent and environmentally-responsible building that limits maintenance costs and optimizes the abundance of natural elements present (sun, wind, and vegetation). The project is LEED Gold certified.
