Peace Bridge

Iconic, world class, revolutionary. All of these words could be used to describe Calgary’s Peace Bridge. With its semi-ellipse, symmetrical construction, this multiple award winning bridge has quickly become an integral part of Calgary’s culture.

A project was born that would challenge the boundaries of design, structure, and even the transportation of the bridge’s components to the site. Creative thinking and problem solving were the foundations of this project. Stantec provided key structural and electrical consulting services and contract administration for award-winning architect Santiago Calatrava, to make the vision a reality.

A testament to the skill and expertise of all involved, the bridge adheres to standards of design and construction that have won two 2013 Canadian Institute for Steel Construction Awards. Now, with nearly 6,000 users a day the Peace Bridge is at the heart of Calgary’s downtown community. The bridge features in many materials promoting Calgary, marking its place as an icon of the skyline.
