The City of Quebec wanted to redevelop Place de Paris, a public space in the heart of the Old City that connects Place des Canotiers and Place-Royale. The goal was to maintain its fundamental purpose as a gathering place, while providing facilities to meet the needs of residents and visitors alike.
Our Landscape Architecture team supported the City by providing project management and coordination services, completing the preparatory studies, design concept and plans and specifications, and supervising construction.
The new development boasts a large paved area with a pattern reminiscent of the old shoreline. It also incorporates urban furniture to give the space a festive atmosphere that calls to mind the terrace cafés of Paris, with green spaces, new lighting, and long wooden benches arranged precisely where remnants of the 17th-century wharves were found during archeological excavations. Various historical interpretive features dot the site to attract history buffs.
