Portage Credit Union Centre

Located in Portage la Prairie’s Island Park area, Portage Credit Union Centre is a regional multi-use recreational facility. It provides two NHL size ice rinks (a 1700 seat spectator bowl + 350 seat community rink), aquatics facility with a leisure/wave pool, fitness centre, multi-purpose rooms, suites, press areas, tournament rooms, dressing rooms, kitchen, concessions and support spaces.

With community pride identified as a core objective for the project, we worked with the client to develop a design that reflects the values, history and culture of community residents. Community groups are encouraged to utilize multi-use spaces further connecting residents to this new community hub. Extensive glazing and colorful accents throughout allow users to observe and connect to activity from the interior and exterior spaces creating an energetic and vibrant atmosphere.

Since opening as the home of the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, the PCU Centre has been host to numerous national and international events including the 2010 Manitoba Winter Games, the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the 2012 Anavet Cup and curling’s 2012 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
