After decades of building homes, Qualico has seen its customers struggle to pick finishes for their bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and dining rooms. Logistical hassle turned what should be an exciting, optimistic time into a stressful ordeal. The developer wanted to consolidate the process under one roof, and turned to Stantec’s architects for help.
Stantec has seen these selection centers before. Too often, they make customers feel like they are navigating a retail maze.
So we changed the shape, laying out a ‘piazza style’ selection center for Qualico’s Edmonton headquarters. Homebuyers lounge around a square in the middle of the center, sipping espresso and planning their next foray into one of the adjacent ‘stores’. Each store contains sample finishes for a different room, tastefully presented, with professional designers on hand to answer questions. Homeowners can go through at their own pace and easily compare how their choices for cabinets and flooring match up (or don’t).
A new house is the biggest purchase that most of us make. Qualico’s new Design Q takes the edge off the process and helps customers choose wisely and wind up with precisely the home they want.
