To better support ever-evolving teaching methods, the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba wanted to update their Clinical Learning Simulation Laboratory (CLSL) facilities. They engaged our team to help.
We transformed underused areas of the second floor of Brodie Centre at the Bannatyne campus into a flexible, technology-enabled environment. Our design introduced eight adaptable exam rooms that can be combined to create four larger rooms using movable acoustic partitions, organized around a central learning and debrief area. Additional support spaces—including areas for standardized patients and staff, a control room and observation systems—allow for simulation-based learning with real-time feedback.
By reimagining existing space, this project goes beyond renovation to a strategic rethinking of how space, technology, and user needs support modern healthcare education. Rady faculty can continue to provide education in medicine, nursing, rehabilitation sciences, and pharmacy in a space that facilitates structured, scenario-based clinical education and evaluation.
