Bringing a community together through a new event facility
The Municipality of Red Lake is an enclave within the Unorganized Kenora District in northwestern Ontario. Spread out over so much space and lacking a place for the community to gather, something needed to be done to give residents a place to get together.
For this project, our program and business solutions team conducted the economics and business analysis, and our architecture team completed a comprehensive study that evaluates the feasibility of constructing a new community event facility.
We offered the municipality of Red Lake guidance through site selection, review of the community’s sustainable plan, and organization and review of public surveys. We evaluated the project through economic outcomes such as capital costs, operations, and economic impacts. The events centre consists of a 500-seat arena, a 350-person performing arts centre, and a multipurpose space. It also has a canteen, skate sharpening, kitchen and bar, seniors' space, climbing wall, atrium, and administrative space.
With a new community center in place, the Municipality of Red Lake finally has a place to gather, get active, and have fun.
