St. Jacobs WWTP Clarifier Condition Assessment and Capital Planning

With a growing population, Region of Waterloo knew they needed to better identify and prioritize repairs and maintenance, as well as more effectively track the use of financial resources, at their St. Jacobs Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). They called us in to help.

We started with a detailed asset inventory and site inspection for the secondary clarification process. After inspecting the tanks, we created a condition assessment with cost estimates and marked-up drawings showing our findings. The asset inventory spreadsheet included physical condition scores, performance scores, capital planning timeframes, and identified code violations associated for the clarifiers. We provided a final condition assessment and capital planning report, prioritizing assets for immediate repairs and offering short- and long-term capital forecasting.

Through this integrated planning approach, Region of Waterloo and the St. Jacobs WWTP team are leading the way in utility maintenance. Their proactive efforts in asset management and capital forecasting will provide a higher level of service to the Waterloo Region.
