St. Patrick’s Island Master Plan

Who knows Calgary better than the people who live there?

Through the engagement of 5,000 Calgarians, we brought them into the conversation by giving them a real life view of our plans through a virtual tour link on CMLC’s website. We hosted knowledge sharing workshops to offer stakeholders and the public opportunities to discuss the plan and to draw their ideas on paper. Ideas studios at various local events and festivals helped increase community awareness and directly engage existing park users. Focus groups, information sessions, and a series of web-based surveys brought in a wealth of information about local vision for the facilities, activities, and services on St. Patrick’s Island.

When considering the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation’s (CMLC) plans for shaping the future of St. Patrick’s Island, an under-used but iconic public space in the heart of the City, our planning specialists recognized the central role of community input informing relevant and sustainable solutions.
