Refreshing of Steinbach’s downtown through multigeneration sports programming
To keep up with a growing community, the City of Steinbach needed to build a new multi-use centre. Working closely with the city, we incorporated the community’s vision with what was needed for the funding and constructability of the project into a concept plan.
We were hired by the city to create a business case, concept design, and feasibility planning for the redevelopment of their downtown sports precinct—it needed to include a new 3,000 seat arena, practice arenas, fieldhouse, fitness centre, and performing arts centre. The event centre project will be an especially important piece of Steinbach’s downtown renewal and a vital part of the region’s sports and wellness infrastructure with a multi-generational approach to community sport programming. It will also be the new home for the 2014 league champion Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba major junior hockey league (MJHL).
With a new place for the community to get together to watch and play sports, Steinbach will be a big draw for hockey fans for years to come.
