What would the 1920s prohibition, a historical Regina Movie Theatre, and burlesque look like in one building?

Create something unique—a one-of-a-kind restaurant experience that Regina was missing. The Capitol brings people in from the street to relax, enjoy the drinks, savor the food, and listen to live music of the era; a space for all the senses. To ensure the guests have the full experience, the menu and drinks cater to the 1920s with old-fashioned drinks and rustic tapas eats.

Located in the heart of downtown in an older two-story building (and previously known as Loggie’s, a famous 1900s-era shoe store), the space had character but also some concerns, like designing the kitchen—which involved various mechanical option reviews. Understanding the tight budget, we found innovative ways to create a luxurious interior that reflected the glamor of the 1920s. For example, the ceiling looks like old tin panels, but in reality it’s a textured vinyl wall covering that was painted gold. Two other features in the space are the black marble counter tops and eye-catching brick wall. Both are epoxy finishes which are less than half the cost of the actual materials.

It’s a unique bar that gives people the opportunity to experience a taste of history and listen to local jazz musicians. Since its opening, The Capitol has been packed and the feedback from patrons is positive. The Capitol pays great homage to the building’s history and Regina’s history, and it was a creative and inspiring project to be part of.
