Tortue River Nature Park

Protecting and developing the biodiversity of this green space

    Candiac, Quebec

A nature park rich in biodiversity

The City of Candiac wanted to make the riverbanks of the Tortue River accessible to residents and offer water-based activities by developing a nature park along the river, a project that would meet environmental guidelines and standards, because the space is designated as a protected area due to its wealth of flora and fauna.

Our urban design team identified the constraints and issues pertaining to the project, then proposed and executed a development concept that showcases the distinctive signature of this area and the Candiac population’s very personal connection with it.

The project included a 2.1-km path along which plants and wildlife can be observed and consolidated features and accesses to bike path networks, Marie-Victorin Boulevard and the nearby Green Route. Thanks to this development, residents can enjoy a place for contemplation and tranquility, where relaxation, leisure and physical activities are encouraged year-round.
