Like many major metropolitan areas, Vancouver faces a housing shortage. To help improve the city’s stock, Westbank Projects Corp. set out to build Vancouver House, a 52-story residential tower with two 6-story triangular shaped buildings for office and retail space. They selected us to provide building envelope consulting services for waterproofing and cladding of the structures.
Our services included conducting thermal performance of opaque wall assemblies, glazing testing, and below grade waterproofing. Located amid major existing civic infrastructure, including on and off ramps for a bridge, the project involved a complicated design process and careful coordination between involved parties. Due to the long project schedule, multiple site superintendents were involved, making effective communication critical to the transfer of construction and design knowledge and decisions.
Now complete, Vancouver House provides over 400 market residential and 90 market units, increasing housing options for the community.
