Creating a versatile, convertible field for Winnipeg's elite players
Soccer fans in the Winnipeg region have been dreaming of a brand new facility. Their dreams came true with Winnipeg Soccer Federation Indoor Soccer Complex (WSFISC). The new multi-use facility provides four pitches along with locker rooms, standing and seated viewing areas, restaurant/concession area, offices, seminar rooms, pro shop, public lobby and display area. Along with recreational programs, WSFISC plays an integral role in the elite training component of the University of Manitoba and provides training camp facilities for university and professional sports franchises.
With only 15 months to deliver, a collaborative approach with the design-builder, the University of Manitoba and three levels of government was essential. With limited budget and need for maximum operational efficiency we developed a clear-span design that features four indoor pitches which easily convert into two larger fields or one full-size FIFA-approved soccer pitch.
