Chao Lake DBO GCOP & Wetlands

Chao Lake is the largest lake in Anhui province—it’s also one of the largest freshwater lakes in China facing crucial watershed pollution problems. To remedy this, the Chao Lake reclamation program stepped in.

Traditional water treatment techniques couldn't meet the stringent effluent standards as the sewage from the wastewater treatment plant was still one of the major sources of pollution in the watershed. Therefore, we decided to further polish the effluent by introducing wetlands and gravel contact oxidation processes (GCOPs) as on-site treatment technologies. We assisted the client in preparing tender documents, provided basic and detail and design services, and oversaw construction.

It was a big challenge to convince the client and the local government to accept new technologies. We provided lots of case studies, hosted meetings to compare different technologies, and demonstrated our values and benefits. To overcome these challenges, an experienced joint force was organized among Shanghai and Taipei staffs to provide superior services.
